Make an Appointment OnlineWhat is a Antigen? COVID-19 Antigen Test is a lateral flow immunochromatographic assay for the detection of extracted nucleocapsid protein antigens specific to SARS-CoV-2 in swab specimens directly collected from symptomatic individuals who are suspected of COVID-19 by their healthcare providers.
How does it work?
What is a PCR and how does it work? This test uses a sample of mucus typically taken from a person's nose or throat. It looks for the genetic material of the coronavirus. The test uses a technology called PCR (polymerase chain reaction), which greatly amplifies the viral genetic material if it is present. That material is detectable when a person is actively infected.
Is it accurate and how quick can I get my results? Generally speaking, these are the most reliable tests. However, a few days may pass before the virus starts replicating in the throat and nose, so the test won't identify someone who has recently been infected. And swabs can sometimes fail to pick up signs of active infection. Wait times were longer earlier in the pandemic because of a testing backlog but our test are taking between 3 to 4 days.
